At Secondary 4, your child will be required to read more complex passages and to write with precision and clarity.

Content and Language Mastery
Students will improve their grammar knowledge and skills by practising grammar drills, editing and
sentence reconstruction exercises. Students will also learn to edit their responses for grammatical accuracy and clarity in writing.

Through our comprehension, summary and critical thinking passages, our programme covers a wide range of general knowledge topics and current affairs to help students develop a global perspective and build their content knowledge for use in their essays. These topics include:
• technology and science
• global issues and social trends
• case studies of inspirational figures

Skills and Techniques
Students will refine critical reading and writing skills through our weekly lessons. These include:
• building writing skills by learning how to fine-tune language using signposting and hedging
• honing summary writing skills by learning how to paraphrase effectively and organise responses to match question requirements
• enhancing comprehension skills through error analysis and answer precision, and learning to construct responses in a clear and logical manner
• learning how to apply critical reasoning skills to evaluate information, recommendations and lines of reasoning presented in written and visual texts

Review and Reinforcement
In the lead up to the examinations, students will be trained in techniques and skills to help them excel in their examinable components. Our Secondary 4 programme aims to help students:
• hone their time management skills through practice tests in simulated exam conditions
• learn to analyse and review their errors so that they can identify and work on their weaknesses
• recap and review question analysis and answering techniques, as well as analyse assessment requirements
• learn how to use the appropriate tone, register and structure to present ideas and opinions clearly and confidently during oral examinations

The aim of Secondary 4 Mathematics is to prepare your child for the ‘O’ Level A Math examination.

Content Mastery
• Students will be exposed to the different geometric theorems, such as the midpoint theorem. Students will also be taught how to write formal proofs and explain whether a geometrical statement is true.
• Students will be introduced to Calculus, the most advanced concept in Secondary Mathematics.
• Students will learn to model the motion of an object in a straight line using kinematics concepts.

Skills and Techniques
• Students will be taught how to recognise question types, identify important markers and apply effective strategies to solve the questions. They will be guided on how to monitor and evaluate his or her own learning.
• Students will also be taught how to study a real-world problem, formulate it in mathematical terms with suitable assumptions and simplifications, and interpret the mathematical solution in real-world context.

Revision and Reinforcement
• Students will focus on content mastery for all the topics through practice tests and revision handouts that includes questions that test foundational knowledge and examination questions.
• Through practice tests, students will also learn examination skills such as time management and error analysis.

Content Mastery
• Students will be introduced to new topics such as Coordination and Response and Cell Division.

Skills and Techniques
• Students complete their learning of topics in the O Level syllabus and consolidate all the concepts learnt in the form of revisions.
• Students are taught to identify and effectively answer questions across interrelated topics within a question.
• Students are exposed to more application questions to challenge their thinking and be more exam-centric.

Revision and Reinforcement
• Students are propelled into exam mode whereby they are given ample practice in the form of rigorous topical tests and mock papers which simulate exam conditions.
• Students will be guided on how to assess and consolidate their learning.
• Focus is placed on ensuring students’ mastery in answering techniques

Content Mastery
• Students will be introduced to new topics such as Organic Chemistry.

Skills and Techniques
• Students are exposed to Experimental Planning, where they are tasked to plan an experiment to investigate the relationships between two or more variables.
• Students will consolidate all topics learnt to create the necessary links between topics to understand chemistry as a whole and to build confidence in answering questions with interrelated topics.
• Students will be exposed to the O Level exam format and acquire examination skills and answering techniques required to tackle each sections of the O level exams.
• Students will practice applying the concepts learnt to data-analysis and application questions pertaining to real world data and issues.

Revision and Reinforcement
• Students will focus on revision of concepts and clarification of any existing misconceptions.
• Students will be made aware of common pitfalls and careless mistakes to keep them from losing unnecessary marks in the exams.
• Students will be practice multiple mock examination papers under exam conditions.
• Students will undergo a systemic, topical-based revision of all O Level topics, including common and challenging questions.

Content Mastery
• Students learn new topics, such as Static Electricity, Magnetism, Electromagnetism and Electromagnetic Induction.

Skills and Techniques
• Students learn how to design and plan an experiment, as well as how to evaluate it.
• Students hone their mastery of answering techniques, such as the question analysis, identification of the relevant concepts, the development of an appropriate strategy to approach each question.
• Students will hone their mastery of manipulating information provided in the question to obtain answers.

Revision and Reinforcement
• Students will focus on revision and clarification of any existing misconceptions.
• Students will be practice multiple mock examination papers under exam conditions.
• Students will be provided with revision packages that summarise the key points and common types of questions for each topic to help them consolidate their learning.
