This programme aims to help students to fine-tune their language precision. Lesson materials help students to write logically and cogently whilst topics for texts at this level help them to build general knowledge and critical perspectives.

Content and Language Mastery
IP students will be introduced to a new component — the application question — and will be trained in the examination requirements for the component.

Students will improve their grammar knowledge and skills by practising grammar drills, editing and sentence reconstruction exercises. Students will also learn how word order and punctuation shapes meaning in a variety of texts.

Through our comprehension, summary and critical thinking passages, our programme covers a wide range of general knowledge topics and current affairs to help students develop a global perspective and build their content knowledge for use in their essays. These topics include:
• technology and science
• global issues and social trends
• case studies of inspirational figures

Skills and Techniques
Students will continue to build on essential skills for mastering the key examinable components of summary, comprehension and composition. These include:

• honing their summary skills by learning to paraphrase ideas and concepts rather than paraphrasing word for word
• improving comprehension skills through error analysis and answer precision
• building writing skills to show maturity of thought and nuance in writing

Students are also trained in their time management skills through practice tests in simulated exam conditions.

Your Secondary 3 child will take on Additional Mathematics for the first time. For many, the subject can be incredibly overwhelming with the introduction of longer and more complicated formulae. This programme provides the support and guidance needed to manage this change.

Content Mastery
• Students will cover topics such as Equations and Inequalities, Indices and Surds, Polynomials and Partial fractions, Binomial expansions.
• Students will learn about the amplitudes and periodicities of trigonometric graphs.
• Students will be taught how to use trigonometric identities, addition formula, double-angle formula, and R formula to simplify and solve trigonometric equations.
• Students will discover how the sine and cosine functions relate to sciences, including the propagation of sound waves.
• Students will study how to find the equation of a circle, and the area and perimeter of a rectilinear figure in a coordinate plane.

Skills and Techniques
• Students will hone their skills in manipulating symbolic representations of exponential, indicial, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions.
• Students will learn to prove that two trigonometric expressions are identical using identities and formulae.
• Students will extend their abilities to visualise and represent lines to curves and circles defined by algebraic equations on a graph.
• Students will also acquire analytical and communication skills that will enable them to make inferences, draw logical conclusions and evaluate solutions.

Content Mastery
• Students will learn upper secondary topics such as Excretion and Homeostasis.

Skills and Techniques
• Students will be taught strategies to remember and recall facts, understand and apply concepts, and analyse experiment-based questions.
• Students will learn how to manage essay questions and how to provide comprehensive and coherent answers.
• Students will also engage in hands-on experiments to acquire the dexterity required for laboratory techniques.

Content Mastery
• Students will dive deeper into topics that build on their prior knowledge of lower secondary Chemistry concepts.

Skills and Techniques
• Students will be guided on how to integrate existing knowledge from lower secondary with upper secondary topics in order to tackle questions.
• Students will also have ample practice with a variety of questions,
• Students will receive feedback on their progress.
• Students will conduct experiments such as titration and qualitative analysis to hone their experimental skills and laboratory techniques.

Content Mastery
• Students learn new topics such as Kinematics, Pressure, Thermal Properties of Matter, General Wave Properties and Electromagnetic Spectrum.

Skills and Techniques
• Students receive a formal introduction to experimental skills such as conducting experiments and recording observations.
• Students then learn to analyse the results and form appropriate conclusions.
• Students will focus on handling information and solving problems by locating, organising and presenting information, manipulate numerical and other data and present reasoned explanations for observations.
