This programme focuses on developing key reading, writing and speaking aptitudes. These skills are essential for your child as he or she prepares for Primary 1.

Writing
Students develop their writing skills through short composition exercises, where they learn how to apply basic writing techniques such as 5Ws 1H and five-senses description. Students also exercise their creativity and articulate their personal thoughts in different text types such as postcards and diary entries.

Reading
Students further build on their reading foundation through a structured incentivised reading programme. Students will also learn to recognise and spell high frequency words and thematic vocabulary words.

Comprehension, Listening and Speaking
Students hone their comprehension, listening and speaking skills through:
• interactive storytelling sessions
• responses to direct and opinion-based comprehension questions corresponding to texts of different genres (stories, poems, factual texts) and video clips
• short verbal presentations and poetry recitals

Vocabulary and Grammar
Students build on their vocabulary foundation with weekly spelling and dictation tests and thematic vocabulary. Students are also introduced to basic grammar rules, including:
• simple past tense and present tense
• singular and plural nouns
• verbs and adjectives
• prepositions

Contextualised Learning
Students engage in a series of interactive activities designed to help reinforce key concepts learnt in class.

Students are also exposed to a wide range of themes that allow students to explore the different parts of the world. Key topics of interest include:
• tourist destinations
• food and culture
• festivals

Kindergarten 2 Math program prepares your child for school by laying a strong foundation in number concepts and all topics covered in Primary 1. Your child will learn more heuristics to equip him or her with the knowledge and skills to solve word problems.

Content Mastery
• Students will master new topics such as Introduction to Multiplication and Division.
• Students will continue to build on their understanding of the topics on Whole Numbers, Fractions, Money, Measurement, Geometry, Data Analysis.

Skills and Techniques
• Students will be able to identify and relate to instructional and key words.
• Students will learn to jot down annotation for word problems, allowing them to solve the questions independently or minimum guidance.
• Students will be able to form number sentences confidently as they will be able to identify the parts and whole for addition and subtraction sentences, and apply the multiplication rule to form the correct multiplication sentences.
• Students will learn various speed math strategies which they will adopt their most preferred method in their own calculations.
• Students will be able to use the value chart to solve vertical working involving addition and subtraction.
• Students will be exposed to new heuristics such as Guess and Check, Supposition Method.

Applied Learning
• Students will play interactive games and in-class activities to generate interest in the subject.
• Students will be given Number Idiom booklets to expand their math vocabulary.
• Students will participate in a series of role-playing activities such as planning a time table or making a money transaction to equip them with the essential life skills to be ready for school.
